WAPDA Hydro Workers Union Protest Jalsa Lahore
Lahore (Thursday, January 19, 2017) – Yesterday wapda hydro worker union hold a protest in front of chief minister house Lahore. The said jalsa was organized demanding one CBA referendum in Wapda. General Secretary hydro union Khursheed Ahmed khan lead the protest. Hundreds of wapda worker gathered in front of Punjab C.M House. They criticize the holding of referendum Distribution Company wise. They demanded the implementation of NIRC act 2012 and Islamabad High court decision in respect of centralize referendum in Wapda. They told that there are 1.5 lakh employees in wapda. It is divided in 16 distribution companies in last many years union referendum had took place on centralize bases but now company wise referendums are being ordered.

Secretary General Wapda hydro electric union Mr. Khursheed Ahmed addressed to the workers while others labour leaders of wapda also addressed. Usama Tariq Secretary all Pakistan Workers Confederation and others representative of unions also attended the protest rally. Others leaders who participated were abdul Shakoor, Syed Zafar Shah, Muhammad Younis Kamboh, Muzafar Mattin, Chaudhry Maqsood Ahmed, Haji Muhammad Lateef, Chaudhry Javed, Nousher Khan, Dilawar Khan, Rana Akhter, Rana Muhammad Akram and Malik Zubair. They demanded not to divide the workers and of employees of an national institution. But the reality is that after 18th amendment the power has been given to province regarding NIRC. The provincial NIRC will decide the holding of referendum.
MEPCO Referendum today
Today union referendum in Multan Electric Power Company is being held. This is first referendum in the history of wapda being held on company wise. More than 17000 employees of MEPCO are casting their voted to select the CBA union.
