FBR Employees Foundation – FBR employees hold protest rally

Demand bosses to give representation in the management of FBR Employees Foundation.

Islamabad (Dunya News / Breaking News / Tuesday, April 9, 2013) – Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), a Tax department employees on Tuesday held protest rallies all over the country asking FBR bosses to give representation in the management of employees Foundation.

FBR Logo - Federal Board of Revenue log - MonogramThe protest rallies were held simultaneously in all offices of FBR across the country under the banner of FBR Union in all regional offices, including Lahore, Faisal Abad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Sialkot etc.

The protesters were chanting slogans against FBR member legal Aqil Usman, also the head of newly-formed FBR Foundation, for creating hurdles in the way of workers representation in the management of the Foundation.

The protesters lamented that 93.5 percent non-gazetted staff of the FBR has no representation in the management of the Foundation. They said that the union has already applied for changes in the basic rules of the Foundation.

They urged the authorities to fulfill the union’s other charter of demand. The Federal Board of Revenue Alliance Union Central President Mian Abdul Qayyum, addressing the protesters at RTO, urged the authorities to take steps to expedite liaison with the workers.

He, showing serious concern over the tax evasion of billions of rupees by around 1,200 so-called foreign companies (AOPs), asked the authorities to recover all outstanding dues, as circular to annul the tax exemption of all AOPs has already been issued.

He also proposed that the said cases may be re-opened under section 122 for the last five years and also retrieve the loss of revenue in trillions caused in those years.

He said that like previous years the employees union would continue to support the FBR revenue collection drive but the department would have to facilitate the workers also by fulfilling their long-standing demands.
