WAPDA Peshawar – workers threaten to cut electricity supply

Wapda employees took out rallies in different cities of the country against government’s decision.
June 22, 2011 – In Peshawar, they have threatened to disconnect the power supply throughout the province.The employees led by Wapda Hydro Electric Union held out protest demonstration outside the Peshawar Press Club.They blocked the road and shouted slogans against the government and Wapda management.

The speakers said that if their facilities were not restored, they would disconnect the power supply throughout the province.
In Hyderabad, they held out a rally which started from Wapda Labour Hall and culminated at the Hyderabad Press Club. The participants criticized the government’s decision.
Likewise, the employees in Dera Jamali also raised their voice against the Federal Government. They alleged that bureaucracy was being provided with power free of cost while low-grade employees have been deprived of this facility.
In D.I Khan, the employees also took out a rally led by Labour Unity and termed the government as anti-labourers. The protestors warned that if the decision were not withdrawn, they would capture the Parliament House.
In Daharki, angry employees locked the offices and staged a sit-in by tyres on fire.
