Lahore (May 8, 2011): PUNJAB University (PU) chapter Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) has claimed that the varsity s upcoming book fair will be organised in collaboration of the Jamiat and the administration. An IJT statement issued on Sunday claimed that besides people from different walks of life, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Chief Syed Munawar Hasan would also attend the book fair. It is pertinent to mention here that PU administration has already announced that the book fair would be organised by the administration on New Campus from May 12 to May 14 while Jamiat had announced its three-day book fair starting from May 10. PU administration has been claiming that no student organization, including IJT, will be allowed to organise the event while recently some IJT activists had also thrashed two employees of the varsity who were found removing Jamiat s posters in connection with its book fair. A PU official, seeking anonymity, said IJT office bearers after realising the fact that they could not hold book fair independently were now claiming that the fair would be held with collaboration of the both.
