LAHORE (Wednesday, August 03, 2011) – WITH the announcement of matriculation result, public sector colleges have announced schedule for admission to intermediate classes.

The Government College University (GCU) is going to open its intermediate admissions from August 3, 2011 (today) which will remain open till August 10.
Registrar Prof Anjum Nisar said on Tuesday that no admission form would be entertained after the due date while the first merit list will be displayed on August 15, 2011. He said that the GCU’s last year minimum merit for admission to FSc Pre-Engineering was 972 marks, Pre-Medical 961 marks, Intermediate Computer Sciences (ICS) 901 marks, FSc General Science 820 marks, Intermediate in Commerce (ICom) 857 marks while admissions for Intermediate in Arts were closed at 806 marks in 2010.
Prof Nisar further said that this year, the GCU would be offering admissions on the basis of Hifiz-e-Quran, Fine Arts, Overseas Pakistanis, Disability, Sports, Kinship, Minorities and Co-curricular activities, including Debates (English, Urdu and Punjabi), Drama, Music, Rovers Club, Qiraat and Naat. He said sports seats were also being offered in 18 games, including athletics, squash, badminton, table tennis, tennis, basketball, cricket, gymnastic, boxing, weightlifting, bodybuilding, wrestling, football, swimming, hockey, volleyball and handball. The registrar said trials for admissions in co-curricular and sports would be held on August 12 to August 16, 2011.
Meanwhile, admissions to intermediate classes (1st year) have also commenced at the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). The university spokesman said prospectus along with forms would be available from specific branches of the Bank of Punjab and would be received at LCWU campus till August 9. The admission to all categories would be offered on open merit except Fine Arts and English Literature for which entrance test would be conducted on August 11, 2011.
