Karachi(April 15, 2011): Academic council of the University of Karachi (KU) has decided that all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the university, wishing to be enrolled for the MS and PhD courses, will have to take the entry tests.
The decision was taken in the meeting of the academic council on Friday. Vice Chancellor Prof Pirzada Qasim chaired the meeting that was also attended by Pro-Vice Chancellors Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi (Convener MS/PhD programmes) and Dr Nasiruddin Khan, beside all the Deans of the faculties. The meeting also decided that the selection of the supervisors would be taken after the completion of the course work.
Prof Qasim, while appreciating the role of the university teachers in quality teaching, hoped that the teachers will maintain the standards required by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and perform their work with missionary zeal.
He asked the teachers to enhance the standard of the teaching to allow the university to advance in the world ranking of the Ivy League universities. The university has received 3,370 applications for the two programmes that have 415 seats.
