Railway workers protest today at DS Office Karachi

KARACHI (October 25, 2011) : Protest demonstration and a rally would be carried out by the employees of Pakistan Railways (PR) over the dysfunctional state of affairs of the department on Tuesday (today) in front of the office of Deputy Superintendent Aftab Memon at 12:00pm.
A protest rally would also be carried out on II Chundrigar Road at 02:00pm so that the public could be made aware about the genuine issues of PR.
Chairman Pakistan Railways Workers’ Union Manzoor Ahmed Razi told PPI that the situation of PR had gone from bad to worse over the last few years whereas the higher authorities seem oblivious regarding the circumstances.
He said that pensions of ex-employees were still on a halt whereas more than 1,500 retired officials were yet to receive their dues for over a period of six months. He said that some workers belonging to different engineering departments were still denied their salaries.
Razi said that employees from all over the country, including Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Multan, Quetta, Sukkur and other major hubs of PR were participating in the protest.
