Railway Employees end Strike, Gets Rs 1Billion for salaries & Pension
ISLAMABAD (Breaking News, Tuesday, October 18, 2011) : Ministry of Finance has released Rs.1 billion to Pak Railway for payment of salaries, reported SAMAA on Tuesday.
After the release of salaries, protesting railway workers resumed train service from the Lahore Railway Station.
The frustrated employees had halted all trains at railway shade and washing lines in protest against the non-release of monthly salaries.
The move disrupted railway operations in Lahore, leading to long delays in departure of trains. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at the railway station.
However, following the release of Rs.1 billion, railway operation returned to normal in Lahore.
The Finance Ministry further said that more funds would be released soon to repair existing engines and buy new ones.
