Letter of HBL Pensioners to The Editor The Nation

A ray of hope
I retired as SEVP from Habib Bank Limited (HBL) on February 8, 1996. My pension was set as Rs. 8245 and it has never been increased. Only once in 1999 under the directive of Honorable Ombudsman it was raised slightly. Since then all requests and notices to HBL management have fallen on deaf ears. The appeals sent to State Bank of Pakistan did not bear any fruits either. My monthly pension stands static at Rs. 8245, whereas the monthly pension of my counterparts in other banks has quadrupled over the last few years.
It is height of illegality, injustice and highhandedness displayed by a well renowned bank and there is no one I can ask for help except the Honorable CJP of Pakistan to kindly invoke his suo moto powers to undo this wrong practiced by HBL on many retired pensioners and the families of the deceased pensioners.
