Workers Memorial Day will be observed on 28 April all over the world including Pakistan under the theme of ‘Workers need strong regulation and enforcement’. Workers Memorial Day is observed to remember the toll of workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths.
The day has been recognised by US trade unions since 1989. The day is also intended to serve as a rallying cry to ‘remember the dead, but fight like hell for the living’. April 28 was chosen because it is the anniversary of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the day of a similar remembrance in Canada.
