WAPDA Employees Rally in Islamabad Against Privatization
Islamabad (Breaking News / Wednesday, February 18th, 2015) – Today in Islamabad Water Power Development Authority (WAPDA) workers stage protest demonstration against the proposed privatization. Large number of WAPAD employees belonging to MEPCO, IESCO, GEPCO, LESCO, SEPCO, HESCO QESCO and PESCO participated in the protest.
PPP central member,MNA and Opposition leaders in National Assembly Mr. Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah addressed the participants. He categorically reject the the proposed privatization of WAPDA and told that he will not allow to privatize any department of organization of the Government.
WAPDA Hydro Electric Labour Union (CBA) central leaders also spoke at this occasion. This huge rally ended with the speeches of labour leaders.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will raise issue of privatisation of the Wapda in the next session of the National Assembly.
This was stated by the JI parliamentary secretary in the National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah MNA while addressing a seminar, which was held to raise voice over concerns of Wapda employees regarding planned privatisation of the authority.
The seminar was organised by the National Labour Federation and Iesco Labour Unity. The seminar besides others was also addressed by the NLF president Shamsur Rehman Swati, Iesco Labour Unity President Ashiq Khan and General Secretary Tanvir Shah.
