Two weekly holidays likely
ISLAMABAD (March 25, 2011): Federal Government is likely to announce two holidays in a week during summer season after getting recommendations from the upcoming energy conference next month (April).
“The proposal for five working days a week is under consideration on high level and it is likely to be materialised after getting detailed recommendations from energy conference,” Cabinet Division sources told The Nation.
The government had previously announced a five-day working week on the proposal of the Ministry of Water and Power but this time Finance Ministry had moved a summary to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in this regards, the sources said.
The sources said that the suggestion of two holidays might be included in the next federal cabinet meeting. The expected approval would be made keeping in view to bridge widening gap between demand and supply of electricity in country. Last year, before its approval a proposal in this regard was made to facilitate the industrial and agricultural sector besides saving money.
It may be mentioned here that the if the five-day work suggestion was approved the expected timings of government offices might be observed from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with one hour lunch and prayers break.
The upcoming annual energy conference under the chairmanship of Prime Minister is likely to be attended by all chief ministers of provinces, stakeholders, and experts to discuss in length energy situation in the country.
