Supreme Court ordered double salaries for Karachi police
Karachi (November 01, 2012) – Supreme Court resumed hearing the Karachi law and order case at its registry here. During proceedings Justice Khilji Arif remarked that the budget for the Rangers should be used to double the salary of the police.
The report pertaining to target killing was presented in court today. According to the report during the last 13 months, 2,381 murder cases were registered and 761 arrests were made.
IG Jails informed the court 193 convicts were released on the account of good behavior. Justice Amir Hani Muslim told the IG Jails that the real record was given to the payroll committee which can be tampered by anyone.
Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that the Sindh Home Ministry was running a parallel judicial system. All 35 criminals released in 2003 were involved in serious crimes including murder.
