Govt Employees Rental Ceiling Increase Letter to Submit Summary by Ministry of housing and Works dated 4-12-2017
PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE ISLAMABAD has issued a letter to ministry of housing and works for submitting summary regarding increase revised rental ceiling and house rent allowance (HRA) of the Government employees.
SUBJECT :- ENHANCEMENT OF RENTAL CEILING FOR HIRING OF PRIVATELY OWNED RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION
8. On consideration of the submission of the Ministry of Housing and Works at para 4 of the summary, the Prime Minister has been pleased to observe that unless it is absolutely imperative, any proposal to enhance the pay packages of government servants should be presented only at the time of preparation of the annual budget since such proposals require the raising of corresponding resources, which is not always possible midway in the financial year. Therefore, in view of the financial constraints being faced by the government at present, the Prime Minister has been pleased to desire that the Ministry of Housing and Works shall resubmit its proposals at the beginning of the fourth quarter of the current financial year for incorporation in the budget for FY 2018-19.
9. However, keeping in site the genuine need to enhance the rental ceiling for hiring of private accommodation by government servants, the
Prime Minister has been pleased to agree in principle to an increase in the current limits of rental ceilings across all grades by 50 percent. Furthermore, since the House Rent Allowance remains fixed as a proportion of 2008 pay scales, the Prime Minister, in the interest of equity, has also been pleased to approve in principle the enhancement of House Rent Allowance by 50 percent of the current level for all grades.
10. The Ministry of Housing and Works shall resubmit the summary accordingly.
