Punjab Health Department has sent recommendations to the Chief Minister Punjab (Mian Shahbaz Sharif) for recruitment on vacant posts in Lahore General Hospital (LGH) and for issue of degree by the Post-Graduate Medical Institute to improve the performance of these institutions, says health secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad.
At a meeting at the LGH on Sunday, Mr Fawad said all resources would be provided to the hospital to make it a model institution of the province.
Post-Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Tariq Salahuddin said more than 2,000 doctors had submitted their applications for admission to various diploma degree courses in 2010-11, of which, 400 were granted admission.
He said that with the completion of a 500-bed Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences, facilities of diagnostic and treatment would be available to the patients under one roof. He said free treatment facilities are being provided to dengue fever patients and about 100 patients have so far been discharged after their recovery.
