Rawalpindi: Special Committee Formed to Resolve Issues of Young Doctors in Punjab

The Punjab Chief Minister’s Secretariat issued a notification to members of a special committee formed to resolve issues being confronted by young doctors of the province regarding holding up of its first meeting within three days.

The committee comprises MNA from Rawalpindi Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, MNA from Lahore Bilal Yasin, MNA from Multan Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, MPA Dr. Saeed Elahi, MPA Dr. Asad Ashraf, provincial health secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and finance secretary. The Punjab Young Doctors Association representatives in the committee include Dr. Syed Nasir Abbas from YDA Lahore, Dr. Muhammad Haroon and Dr. Usman Ayub from YDA Rawalpindi, Dr. Mazhar Ali from YDA Multan, Dr. Suleman and Dr. Imran.
President YDA Rawalpindi Chapter Dr. Muhammad Haroon informed ‘The News’ that he has received the notification from the CM secretariat, which states that ‘the committee must hold its first meeting within three days’.
He added that the committee shall discuss the demands of the YDA, as presented to the CM such as the issue of pay protection upon regularisation, increase in salary of young doctors, increase in seats of Postgraduate Trainees and House Officers in the hospitals other issues.
It is important that Punjab Young Doctors Association met with the chief minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, health secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and finance minister on Monday and has termed its meeting positive.
“In the meeting, we have been given assurance by the CM that the salaries of the young doctors would be raised according to their demands,” said Dr. Haroon. He added that the CM also assured young doctors that the building of Rawalpindi Medical College hostel would be evacuated from NAB in Rawalpindi. It is important that NAB has been utilizing the RMC hostel building for years.
Dr. Haroon added that according to the notification issued on Tuesday, ‘the committee shall submit its recommendations regarding a fair and practicable course of action within three weeks’
