Public Holidays Based on Sighting of Moon
Islamabad (Tuesday, June 28th, 2016) – Some of general public holidays in Muslim culture, norms and tradition are based on the citing of moon. Minister of interior, Government of Pakistan has listed these public holiday in the notification issued on January 26th, 2016. Eid ul Fitr Holidays are one of them. Detail are given bellow:-
1- Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated on 1st of Shawal every Islamic year (AH)
2- Eid-ul-Azha celebrated on 10th Zil hajj every Islamic year (AH)
3- Ashura celebrated on 9th and 10th Moharram ul Haraam every Islamic year (AH)
4- Eid-Milad ul Nabi celebrated on 12th Rabi ul Awwal every Islamic year (AH)
When will be Eid ul Fitr this Year 1437 AH?
This year Muslims s are busy in fasting. Today is 22nd Roza of this Ramzan ul Mubarak. Government Employees and employees working in private sectors are waiting the announcement of Eid Holiday with keen interest. Meteorological department has told that the chances of appearance on moon after 29th Ramzan (Evening of July 5, 2016) are very high. Thus it is most likely that First Shawal will be on Wednesday, July 6th, 2016. But notification of Eid holidays by Interior Ministry is being waited in this regard to schedule the Eid Holidays Plan.
It is expected that Eid Public Holidays will be from Tuesday (5th July) to Friday (8th July).
