PITAC joins hands with WEC to enhance training programmes
LAHORE (February 1, 2012) : Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC) has signed a 10-year agreement with a UK-based organisation, World Education Centre (WEC), to enhance the quality of vocational training programmes and employability of youngsters in the country.
In the initial phase, more than 10,000 skilled workers will be trained by the end of 2015 under the PITAC-WEC venture and their job placements will be arranged in various industries of Pakistan, which is also in line with the policy of the Ministry of Industries.
Talking to media, WEC Chairman Qaiser Atique said, “Our organisation has a strong background of collaboration with UK’s largest examination board, Edexcel, which has developed a huge number of vocational courses recognised around the world. We are focused on delivering effective education for employment to the youth of Pakistan.”
PITAC General Manager Tariq Chaudhry, adding to this statement, said that PITAC had been serving to fulfil the needs of industry in Pakistan since 1962, adding that PITAC had trained more than 3,000 people in 2011.
