Peshawar: Fata Teachers Seek Reinstatement

PESHAWAR, Dec 18: The sacked teachers of Fata community schools held a protest demonstration here on Saturday and demanded reinstatement.
Let by Manzoor Afridi and Zar Ali Khan Afridi, a large number of teachers participated in the protest demonstration, held outside Fata Secretariat on Warsak Road. They were shouting slogans against high-ups of Fata Secretariat for sacking them.
“More than 900 teachers of community schools across Fata have been terminated without any solid reason,” they said. They said that sacking of Fata teachers was a great injustice as tribal people were already facing problems owing to terrorism and militancy.
“Our children need books and pens while Fata secretariat wants to give them guns instead of providing them an educational environment,” they said. They alleged that people at the helm of affairs were intentionally taking sucj steps to further deteriorate the situation.
Mr Afridi said that Fata had been left behind in all developmental schemes and the relevant department was not paying due attention to it. “This is a great injustice with our people and we can’t accept it.
