Para-Medical Employees of PIC Lahore Protest for revised service structure
Lahore (Thursday, December 12, 2013) – A number of contract and daily wage employees of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) staged a protest demonstration in front of PIC emergency against delay in the announcement of a service structure and other rights on Thursday.
The protesters including women workers gathered in front of PIC emergency at around 8am and postponed their services in outdoor and other wards. The protest continued for around four hours, causing serious problems for patients and their attendants.
Employees were carrying banners and placards, demanded revised service structure for the paramedical staff as the government had already announced a raise in the salaries of grade five to grade16 employees of the public hospitals. They also criticised the health and finance departments for delaying the announcement of the service structure for them.
On this occasion, Punjab Paramedical Alliance (PPA) leaders said that Punjab chief minister had promised on May 12, 2011 a special pay package of Rs 5.2 billion for the doctors, staff nurses and paramedics.
