Pakistan Steel Peoples Workers Union (CBA) Demands Employees Salaries
Union also criticised Pakistan Steel Privatisation Plan
Karachi (Monday, September 30, 2013) – Pakistan Steel Peoples Workers Union (PSPWU-CBA) Chairman Shamshad Qureshi demanded an immediate release of August and September 2013 salaries to the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) employees as per plan of fresh bailout package.
He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government is playing a non-serious role with PSM, which is the key factor for the declining position of national strategic asset.
Qureshi said that referendum for CBA is a basic democratic right of each worker, but the present government is delaying the matter using illegal and pressure tactics on NIRC, which is unacceptable.
Qureshi also criticised the PSM privatisation statement by the Federal Minister of Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi on his very first visit to PSM last week.
A latest detail hand bill was also released and distributed by PSPWU regarding the factual and actual scenario of PSM with four major demands to the government. The demands are referendum in PSM, revival of PSM as per plan forwarded by PSM’s board of directors to overcome raw material shortage, discipline matters and disbursement of August and September 2013 salaries before Eidul Azha.
PSM employees have received the salaries of June and July this month after the release of Rs 1.5 billion bailout package against the delayed salaries of PSM employees till September 2013.
