Landhi (Karachi) : Education and Literacy Departmrnt (Sindh) official blocks salaries of absentee employees :
Assistant District Officer (ADO), Education (E), Landhi Town, Wahid Bux Bughio, has decided to withhold the salaries of the absentee teachers and other non-teaching staff of the town. He has also requested the local banks not to pay the salaries to such employees of the education department, The News has learnt.
At least 25 people have been marked by Bughio, who had been accused for not attending their respective schools, but they were withdrawing their salaries on a regular basis in the past. As per the decision taken by the ADO, (E), Landhi Town, such employees would not be able to get salaries for the month of October. Sources said Bughio had issued letters to various bank branches and asked the management of the concerned banks to stop the salaries of 11 teachers while more letters would be issued on Tuesday (today).
Bughio, who is also the Drawing and Disbursement Officer of Landhi Town told The News that he has the authority to take such decisions and stop the salaries of absentee staff of the education department. “I will inform the Executive District Officer (EDO), Education, Muhammad Ibrahim Kumbhar and the offices of the Accountant General Sindh once investigation is over,” he said.
Most of the absentee teachers were working in BPS-9 and 10 grades while they were withdrawing Rs. 11, 000 to Rs. 21, 000 per month including basic salaries and allowances, he also said. The absentee staff would be asked for the explanations for their act, Bughio further said. If they found guilty during the investigation then the education department would take necessary measures against them, he added.
