Setting one-week deadline for management of the Lucky Cement Factory, the workers union on Thursday threatened to stage protest if their demands were not met.
The decision was made at a meeting held here at Tajazai with Senior Vice-President Muhammad Akram in the chair. Workers including General Secretary Sajjad Khan, Vice-President Bismillah Jan, Finance Secretary Mir Abbas, Joint Secretary Muhammad Latif, Shadmir, Sajjad Khan and Zahiruddin attended the meeting.
On the occasion, speakers asked the government to release workers’ union President Muhammad Ismail, who was detained in Dera Ismail Khan prison under 3-Maintenance of Public Order (MPO). They said one of their workers Attaur Rehman, who went missing on November 15, had not yet been recovered and asked the local authorities to secure his safe recovery.
They said the five members of the union dismissed by the management should be reinstated. They said about 100 daily wagers terminated by the management should also be reinstated. They asked the authorities to quash the ‘fake cases’ registered against the workers.
