PUNJAB Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has assured the young doctors that the provincial government will announce a special salary package for them in a few weeks time.

The chief minister would announce the decision in the next meeting with the young doctors.
The chief minister made the decision after a delegation of young doctors met him here at CM’s House on Monday and apprised him of their demands, including a special pay package and pay protection.
Mr Shahbaz said the young doctors would be given a pay raise as they were a valuable asset to the country. He accepted their other demands of pay protection and security of the hospitals and urged them to serve the public with dedication.
The young doctors appealed to the CM to raise the salary of a house officer to Rs30,000, medical officer/PG trainee to Rs70,000 per month, senior register to Rs150,000 and also announce a special pay package for other doctors. Doctors further said as the government had given a special pay package to the judiciary, it needed to announce a special pay package for doctors too to stop the brain drain. They further urged the CM to increase the paid slots for house job following increase in the number of seats in medical colleges of the province. They demanded the government direct the IG Punjab to devise a separate strategy and form an exclusive force for security of doctors, nurses, paramedics and other employees in emergencies and hospitals of the province.
