Lahore High Court orders regularization of 250 CDGL workers
City District Government Lahore (CDGL) Employees wins
Lahore (Mon, Nov 11, 2013) – Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan of Lahore High Court on Monday expressed displeasure over the city district government for not regularising the contractual services of its 250 employees and ordered to regularise them.
Earlier a law officer of the provincial government requested to give one week more time to the respondents to implement the court order about regularising the contract services of the petitioner employees.
A government law officer informed that a notification about regularising the services of the 250 petitioner employees was not issued due to two holidays.
Judge expressed displeasure over the statement with remarks that when prime minister and chief minister could perform their responsibilities in holidays, then why not the district coordination officer (DCO).
Judge ordered to implement the court order and give the compliance report.
Iftikhar Ali and other contract employees moved the petition seeking directions to the CDGL to make their posts permanent. Petitioners’ counsels said the CDGL and other respondents had not implemented the court orders.
He alleged that the CDGL was deliberately delaying the issue and violating the court orders. He requested to take notice of the delaying tactics being used by the respondents and issue directions to them for immediately implementing the court orders.
