Yes, they have cancelled the extension, but, I guess, underhandedly, by texting teachers that the holidays are cancelled and the institutes will remain open.

It might be that the children studying at federal institutions are cold-proof. These children do not feel cold and cannot fall sick. Children at federal colleges are also taking exams early in the morning with frozen fingers in freezing temperatures. It is a pathetic situation.

I have recently heard that holidays are for schools not colleges. As college students and teachers did not attend college today, that is why the authorities informed them to come.

winter vacations should be equal for all and sundary. Winter affects small as well as big children and the teachers also. there should be no distinction between students and teachers. these both are pillars of educational set up. no one can work alone. so winter holidays should be applied on both children (junior/senior)as well as teachers.

Today in Dawn news, I read that Rafiq Tahir has cancelled these holidays altogether in all educational institutions. On 4th January, he said in Dawn news that all institutions will have the holidays after trying underhandedly to call college teachers and students to come but backed off when confronted by media. In fact some colleges were open on Saturday and principals can not act on their own, so, it was all being done with his insistence or approval. What kind of a circus is being run by him?

We demand the re-installation of Saturday holiday in federal capital institutions. It is the demand of parents, students and teachers alike. All over the world, people enjoy two holidays a week. It refreshes them and restores their energies. The person who usurped this holiday has vested interests like getting a higher grade and inflicting pain on teachers. Everyone in the field knows who he is.

He said that he had done this to get the courses completed in time. In colleges, teachers become free of teaching responsibilities in march for intermediate classes and for graduate classes, they have plenty of time to complete the course as their exams are held in June. In fact most of the course is completed till January send-up exams. Then, the teachers are completely thrown into clerical jobs like maintaining absentee records, sending invitations for functions, conducting audits and what not (though such jobs continue throughout the year). If science teachers have any difficulty in completing their courses, they can borrow periods from arts teachers who easily complete their courses.

the cancellation of winter vacation in fde institutions islamabad is not welcomed by fgta and fgha .they have condemned this hasty decisions. the matters of fde institutions is being run like a day today routine . No one is serious about the real development of a mechanism for the uplift of educational standards. .for example with equal conditions of workload , higher qualifications there is great concern among the teachers for the promotional rights of ESTs with effect from 01-01-2014
