Govt announces public holiday on Iqbal Day, November 9, 2014
Government employees will not enjoy extra holiday due to Sunday
Islamabad (Thursday, October 30, 2014) – Ministry of Interior on Wednesday has announced the general public holiday on November 9 in the capital and throughout the country to observe Iqbal Day.
In this connection, special programs by Radio Pakistan/TV stations on the life, ideology and achievements of the great poet of the East and philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal will be aired to highlight his role and service for the Muslims of the sub-continent and in getting a separate homeland.
Moreover, hosting of the national flag on principal government buildings throughout the country and changing of the ceremonial guard at the Mazar of Allama Iqbal would be carried out to mark the day in a befitting manner.
Special exhibition of books and relics of Allama at Iqbal Museum Lahore, National Museum Karachi and Iqbal Manzil Sialkot will be held. Another exhibition relating to Iqbal’s paintings/work at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Lahore and book exhibition by the Iqbal Academy, Lahore will be arranged to observe the Iqbal Day which is falling on Sunday.
