Govt announces Public Holiday in Islamabad on Nov 22, 2012
Islamabad (Breaking News / Daily Jang / Wednesday, November 21, 2012) –
Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday announced a public holiday in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) today (Thursday) due to a session of D8 summit.
He made the announcement while talking to reporters after a high-level meeting at his office to review law and order situation in the federal capital on the occasion of D8 summit and during Muharram.
He said that the decision about suspending mobile phone services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram would be taken after consultation with all stakeholders.
He told reporters that a meeting had decided that all schools, colleges and educational institutions, whether public or private, would remain close today (Thursday). Similarly, he added, all government offices at Pakistan Secretariat would also remain close today.
“However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Chief Commissioner and DC Office, ICT Police, CDA, IESCO, National Assembly Secretariat and Senate Secretariat would work as routine,” the minister said.
