EOBI Pensioners – Muhammad Ishaq Writes a Letter in Daily Express
(Text of Letter)
I am 72 years old pensioners of Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI). My monthly pension is only Rs. 3600. You can understand what an a old man can do in such a little money? In this age dozen of diseases can be with him. How he can purchase medicine from this amount.
In previous year’s budget, Finance Minister announced Minimum pension of Rs.5000. We waited for whole year but Government kept silent. Now in current year budget, another announcement made with great honor that EOBI’s pensioners pension has been increased to Rs.6000 per month. But we still have disappointment only. Rulers told lies but they should respect their decisions. This budget proposal has been approved by National Assembly. EOBI department did not receive money from Government. A workers in service, make deduction to EOBI account. Employer pay an equal amount also. In this way billions of Rupees are collected from factories, industries and workshops. At this time EOBI department has almost 100 billion Rupees in accounts.
