Reply to a call attention notice of PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal

Islamabad (April 19, 2011): Engineer’s New Service Structure has been Promised by Science & Technology Minister Mr Changaiz Khan Jamali in National Assembly Meeting on April 19, 2011.  Jang 20-4-2011.

Engineers’ service structure to be reviewed, NA told
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Jamali on Tuesday said the government will form a commission to review service structure for engineers in the country and the elections of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) shall be held before September.
He was replying to a call attention notice of PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal in the National Assembly on the issue of unrest among engineers on service structure. Ahsan Iqbal raised the issue of poor service structure for engineers, who stay in grade 17 up to 20 years to earn promotion in the next grade, which is causing frustration among engineering community. “Despite return of democracy in the country, the PEC is still run by Musharraf’s LFO.”
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi directed the Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Jamali to expedite the process of PEF elections and call a meeting in this regard in consultation with Ahsan Iqbal. Engineer Khurram Dastgir also protested on the delay in PEC elections.
