Balochistan police crackdown on doctors, 60 arrested
Law enforcers shelled protesting doctors, take around 60 into custody

Quetta- Balochistan (Monday, November 19, 2012) –   Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) in collaboration with Young Doctors Association (YDA) held a protest against missing of eye specialist Dr Saeed Khan.

They were holding placards, banners and posters depicting catch-phrases for early recovery of their missing fellow despite of passing one month. The doctors were also chanting slogans for their demand and against the government.

When the protestors reached Hockey Chowk Quetta after crossing all the hurdles, then police used tear gas shells to stop them from moving forward towards CM’s House. Several doctors were fainted and injured due to heavy shelling.

On the occasion the leaders of PMA Dr Sultan Tareen, Dr. Atta Ullah Bazinjo and others condemned harshly the provincial government against violence on peaceful protest.
They announced to hold complete strike in entire state run hospitals including emergencies wards , OPD and even operation theatres of the province until their demands were not fulfilled. They said that not only Dr Saeed may be retrieved but also murderers of doctors killed in Balochistan should be arrested forthwith.

On the other hand Chief Minister Balochistan has given the ultimatum of next 24 hours to the doctors for concluding their strike or else they will be dealt strictly under the law, which may resulted termination them from services.

The sources said that calling the services of military doctors in hospitals is also among the other options for the government.
