DADU: 7,200 apply for 200 posts of constables in Sindh Police

In Dadu, About 7,200 candidates have applied for 200 posts of police constables in Dadu district and most of them are graduates or holding master’s degrees. The police department has rescheduled the written test for Dec 20.
Some agents are reportedly receiving Rs100,000 to ensure that a candidate gets the job. A master’s degree holder, Nazeer Ahmed, said that he had appeared in the physical test. He said he was poor and belonged to a flood-affected family, therefore he was unable to pay bribe for the job. But he was hopeful for his appointment on merit.
Another graduate candidate, Muhammad Bux, demanded of the Dadu DPO to ensure recruitment on merit. He alleged that some influential persons might get their favourites appointed on the posts.
He alleged that MNAs and MPAs were preparing lists of their favourite candidates and added that if merit was not followed, poor and deserving candidates would be deprived of jobs.
DPO Javed Soonharo Jiskani said that 2,000 candidates had taken the physical test and the process was going on because they conducted the test of 1,000 candidates daily. Only physically-fit candidates would be eligible to appear in the written test, he said.
The DPO said that Ashura might fall on Dec 16, therefore the date for the written test had been rescheduled.
The DPO said that agents collecting money from candidates would be arrested and recruitment would be made on merit. He said no political pressure would be accepted in this regard.
Meanwhile, RPO of Hyderabad Syed Mushtaque Shah has repatriated 160 police constables to Thatta, Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Badin districts.They were performing duties there, but were drawing salaries from Dadu.After their repatriation, 160 posts fell vacant in addition to 40 already lying vacant.
Minister of State for Food and Agriculture Rafique Ahmed Jamali said he was not aware if some local PPP leaders were receiving money from candidates. He asked police officers to arrest such elements who were collecting money in the name of PPP leaders.
Sources said that MPAs and MNAs from Dadu would submit their lists to the Sindh chief minister for issuing job letters.
A large number of relatives and candidates were visiting PPP leaders, MPAs and MNAs.
