CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif approves 1224 vacancies for two new hospitals in Shahdara Lahore and Bahawalpur

Lahore (August 8, 2012) – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday granted approval of 592 new vacancies for a 300-bed under construction hospital in Shahdara, while approval of 632 new vacancies was also granted for 410-bed hospital in Bahawalpur.
The vacancies include specialist doctors, medical officers, woman medical officers and nursing staff. According to the Health Department spokesman, the cost of under-construction 300-bed hospital in Shahdara has been estimated at Rs 592 million, while it is expected to be completed by November.
Another 410-bed hospital in Bahawalpur is in its final phase of construction, and the structure of the building has been completed, whereas finishing work on the project is being carried out expeditiously. The total amount to be spent on this hospital has been estimated at Rs 1.25 billion, out of which Rs 1.2 billion has so far been spent.
The spokesman emphasised that with the construction of the 410-bed hospital in Bahawalpur, latest medical facilities would be available to the people of southern Punjab in their own areas, therefore, they would not have to travel to far-flung areas.
