CDA Mazdoor Union Hold Big Protest in Islamabad against Bifurcation of CDA
BIFURCATION OR DIVISION OF CDA UNACCEPTABLE. WE WANT PROTECTION OF RIGHTS OF WORK FORCE OF CDA. AS WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF ARRESTS. Chaudhary Yaseen Addressed in Protest at Aabpara Islamabad on 17/12/2015
Islamabad (Press Release / Thursday, December 17, 2015) – As announced in the Press conference held on 14.12.2015 in National Press Club, Islamabad, a Protest and sit-in was staged by the employees of the Capital Development Authority in Abpara Chouk Islamabad today wherein thousands of employees of the CDA including Central office-bearers of te CDA Mazdoor Union (CBA) and some prominent Labour Leaders of various Labour Unions of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, who came in sympathy of the employees of CDA, participated in this Protest staged by the CDA employees.
Ch.Muhammad Yaseen, said that CDA in the wake of Local Government elections held in Islamabad, is proposed to be divided while the workers are feeling unrest due to non-protection of their guaranteed rights being availed by them presently which they received through bilateral negotiations during last couple of years of their CBAship. The Union had highlighted their problems before the representatives of the sitting government, Senate of Pakistan through Public Petition, and as well as media, but I am sorry, no positive response seems to have appeared except their verbal assurances but on the contrary, the work force the CDA is still frustrated. Ultimately, this protest was held and sit-in staged wherein different labour unions namely; Mr.J.Salik, Chairman, Minotiry Wing,PFBWW, PWF,PSB Union, Para-medical staff Union of Polyclinic, are participating in full support of the CDA Labour Union on their stance of protection of their rights being affected due to bifurcation of the Authority, without giving them any assurance or protection of their guaranteed rights. Resultantly and per force the CDA Union alongwith its workrs is on the roads to register our protest. CDA Mazdoor Union will offer all sacrifices to protect the rights of the employees of the establishment. Our legal and genuine demands as raised are crystal and clear. Instead of dividing or bifurcating the establishment, the elected representatives be provided representation to defend the rights of the workers in future, while our opponents are bent upon misleading our employees through false propaganda. Therefore, it is high time for us to be united and more active to defend our legitimate rights, which they apprehend to be infringed in the days to come in the present circumstances. The present Administration of the CDA is not taking adequate steps for the satisfaction of its employees because of non-implementation of their agreed demands under the law,i.e.regularization of Daily-wage/muster roll employees, employment of CDA employees’ sons, which has indeed adversely resulted in causing serious anxiety amongst work force. We believe in bilateral dialogue for the resolution of disputes and have never disturbed industrial peace in the Capital.
The CDA Mazdoor Union (CBA) has struggled for the existence and unity of employees and Inshallah, in future we also believe that in the interest of industrial peace in the Capital, a policy be evolved by the Government with mutual understanding and trust through bilateral negotiations and cooperation. He warned that the above policy adopted by the Union, may not be treated for granted as our weakness. He appealed to the Government including Minister of State for CADD and Chairman, CDA to very kindly cooperate and extend their help to fully safeguard our due rights and as post-election arrangement, rights of the employees be assured to be safeguarded and unimplemented demands be implemented, so that the peaceful industrial peace of the Capital is not disturbed through agitations or token strikes.
Finally, Ch.Yaseen categorically announced again in the interest of peace, which needs not be disturbed a our policy, that CDA Mazdoor Union is not afraid of arrests and requested the honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan,Federal Minister for Interior C.Nisar Ali Khan and Federal Mnister of State for CADD to call for a meeting with the CBA Union wherein grievances of 15000 workers be discussed, considered and our apprehensions removed by safeguarding them.
Mr.J.A.Salik, said that Ch.Muhammad Yaseen is not only a labour leader of the CDA but he is known at international level. As it appears today, that on his call of today’s protest and sit-in, the Labour Unions like WAPDA. Railway. Pakistan Workers Federation, OGDC, Pakistan Sports Board, Paj OWD, Akhbar Frosh Union, Para-medical Staff including various Union from all over Pakistan are presently standing with the employees of CDA in the hour of their difficulty.
