KESC Union case adjourned till September 16, 2011
KARACHI (September 12, 2011) : Administrative Judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts, Karachi Division Justice Maqbool Baqar Monday adjourned the hearing of application moved by KESC Labour Union for deleting Section 7 of ATA from FIR against employees till Sept 16.
The FIR was registered at Defence police station on complaint by KESC management against 30 employees including the Union leaders for an attack on its head office, injuring security guards and employees, damaging the vehicles and property of the corporation on Aug 29.
After registration of the case, the police arrested 30 accused, including Chairman of KESC Akhlaq Ahmed and General Secretary Haji Shahzad and obtained eight days physical remand of the accused from the court of the Administrative Judge of ATC. After expiry of remand period, the court sent all accused to jail.
Meanwhile, the defence lawyer challenged the inclusion of ATA section in the FIR and argued that the incident does not attract the section 7 of ATA.
The prosecution side presented video of the incident and statement of 26 witnesses before the court. The defence lawyer expressed his reservations over the video film presented by the prosecution.
The court called for original clippings, which were aired by the private TV channels on that day.
