Young Doctors (YDA) Islamabad ends their strike:
ISLAMABAD (April 5, 2011): On the directive of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, the Federal Health Ministry has promised a review of the demands made by protesting doctors in Islamabad.
Addressing a news conference along with Federal Health Secretary Nargis Sethi, Young Doctors Association (YDA) President Dr. Sajid Abbasi announced to call off their strike.
Speaking on this occasion, Ms Sethi said that the Prime Minister and the President had directed her to resolve the doctors’ issues so that patients could not suffer any longer.
She said that a notification would be issued within one week after evaluation of the demands made by the YDA. She, however, added that salaries would be increased in the next financial budget.
