Doctors protest for pay raise

LAHORE (Saturday, April 2, 2011) Leader of the protesting doctors (YDA) Aamir Bangisha has been arrested while six other doctors have given their resignation.

The ultimatum given by the doctors will also end today.

The Young Doctors’ Association’s (YDA) strike continues in Punjab’s hospitals on 33rd consecutive day today. Jinnah Hospital Lahore’ 500 and Punjab Institute of Cardiology’s 120 doctors have submitted their resignations.

Sources said that the Punjab government mulls over arrest and registering case against protesting doctors.
