YDA (Young Doctors Association) stages protest in favour of demands

QUETTA (June 15, 2011) : Young Doctors Association (YDA) staged a demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club on Wednesday demanding a pay raise, improvement in the pay scale of doctors and the assurance of security to them.

Quetta Arrested Doctors in Court

The protesters were carrying placards inscribed with slogans in support of their demands. The procession started from Sandeman Hospital and marched through different streets of the city, coming to a stop only to stage a sit-in protest in front of the Quetta Press Club. Addressing the protesters Dr Abdul Rashid Nasir and Dr Zaman Baloch said that the Balochistan High Court should take suo motu action against the police, which used teargas on the doctors and arrested them.

They said that they should raise their voice for their rights. The protesters demanded that the health minister and health secretary should be replaced by much more competent people.
Separately, all the state-run hospitals and private clinics were closed condemning Tuesday’s incident where seven doctors were injured and a large number of doctors were arrested.
