Sexual harassment – Lyari college staff goes on indefinite strike
KARACHI (Saturday, October 01, 2011) : Principal of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical college has said that the faculty members and other staff had suspended work indefinitely as a result of, what he said, women staff being subjected to sexual harassment, Geo News reported Saturday.
Talking to Geo News principal Prof Iqbal Memon said that mugging and harassment had become order of the day in the hospital. During the meeting of the academic council, the faculty members and staff announced to go on an indefinite strike, he added.
He said the staff would not come back to work until their grievances and complaints were addressed.
Prof Iqbal Memon said that he had also been receiving threats and that the prevailing circumstances had put the future of college and students in limbo.
