Punjab Young Doctors reject Govt Ultimatum – Jang Geo Breaking News 2-4-2011
LAHORE (Saturday, April 2, 2011): Punjab Government has served last ultimatum to young doctors, observing strike across the province, saying that the latter must join office within 24 hours, Geo News reported on Saturday.
According to reports, the ultimatum was served after the provincial cabinet meeting last night. It was also decided that if the doctors did not call off strike and join office within 24 hours Punjab government would appoint unemployed and retired doctors on adhoc basis.
Spokesman for Punjab government said that alternate measures had been adopted to tackle the situation being faced owing to strike of young doctors, adding that government had directed to contact health department for the appointment of unemployed doctors on adhoc basis.
The spokesman further stated that heavy contingent of police have been deployed outside the hospitals to combat any untoward situation.
Meanwhile, young doctors have rejected the government ultimatum and announced that they would tender resignations if the government did not accept their demands. They also announced to continue strike today (Saturday) despite government ultimatum and warning for sacking them.
