Nurses strike in southern Punjab, demanding allowances
MULTAN (Monday, November 21, 2011) : Nurses of government hospitals in southern Punjab announced they would not attend patients at emergency wards and outpatient clinics against the government’s failure to meet their demands.
The boycott would continue unless their demands were accepted by the government, they said.
The nurses had been holding protests for the last five days for health professional allowances and other demands in Multan and other cities of southern Punjab. However, they stopped work at surgical wards, OPDs and ICUs after receiving cold response from administration.
The demonstrators also held a protest in front of DCO Office in Multan.  They said that patients had to suffer due to apathy of government and hospital’s administration.
