Lahore – PMA thanks Punjab Govt for Pay raise

LAHORE (Monday, May 9, 2011): PAKISTAN Medical Association (PMA) has welcomed Punjab government’s announcement about pay raise for all cadres of doctors in the province.
In a press release here on Monday, PMA office-bearers including Dr Ashraf Nizami, Dr Akhtar Rashik Malik, Dr Tanveer Anwar, Dr Izhar Ahmad Chaudhry, Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Azim-ud-Din Zahid, Dr Gulzar Chaudhry, Dr Abrar Ashraf Ali, Dr Ehsan-ur-Rehman, Dr Yasmin Ehsan, Dr Sabahat Habib Khan, Dr Sahid Rao, Dr Sher Gull Niazi, Dr Tanveer Karim, Dr Sikandar Warraich, Dr Jahangir Naul and Dr Maqbool Alam stated that despite financial constraints the Punjab government had accepted the recommendations of the PMA Punjab and this was a serious and positive step by the Punjab government for the betterment of health sector and PMA appreciated it.
The office-bearers further said that PMA was working seriously with the Punjab government to bring the doctors out of the national pay scale and they have hoped that PMA would soon be able to finalise a package like the one announced by the federal government.
