MANSEHRA Friday, April 15, 2011): Doctors serving in the management side of the provincial Health Department are going to file a writ petition against the recently introduced bifurcation in general cadre of the doctors into the management and clinical cadres.
The decision was taken during doctors’ meeting that was held here Friday.
Sources privy to the meeting said that Mansehra Executive District Officer (health) Dr Mohammad Javed Tanoli, Deputy EDO Dr Hifzur Rehman, EDO Haripur Dr Mohammad Idrees, Medical Superintendent (MS) King Abdullah Teaching Hospital Dr Niaz Muhammad, Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS), Dr Naseer Mohammad, MS DHQ Hospital Battagram, MS Dadar Hospital Dr Mohammad Bashir, Dr Mazhar Ali Shah, Dr Fida, Dr Shamim Anwar Dr Naeem Akhtar Dr Riaz and others discussed in details the recently introduced clinical and management cadres.
The participants, after discussing the pros and cons of the system, termed it against the basic rights of the doctors. They said the government had announced to introduce the two-cadre system in the general cadre in 2008 but the formula was formalised in May 2010 and the lists compiled under One-time Exercise, which deprived the senior doctors in the management side of their posts.
The participants said the cadre system surpassed the seniority of hundreds of the doctors and untrained doctors who would be given the important responsibilities with little experience and newcomers would be in the management side. The participants said the cadre system, introduced in the Education Department, was the best way of the modern changes in the old system and it should be introduced in the health department too.
