Balochistan young doctors call off 2.5 months long strike

QUETTA (June 22, 2011) – Balochistan young doctors on Tuesday announced to end the strike after successful rounds of talk with the Parliamentary committee formed to settle down the issue.

Announcement to this effect was made during the meeting of Young Doctors Association (YDA) with the CM Balochistan here at CM Secretariat. Provincial cabinet members, the representatives of senior doctors and PMA Balochistan were also present on the occasion.
Balochistan government had detained over 200 doctors besides lodging FIR against the plenty of the young doctors who had gone to scuffle with the police during their protest for the raise of their salaries and other demands.
The Chief Minister formed Parliamentary committee comprising the Balochistan ministers and MPAs to sit with the protesting doctors and find the amicable solution to the issue.
Talking to the delegation of doctors, Raisani lauded the role of senior doctors for their mediation between the government and YDA.
He, on the occasion announced to bring the salaries of the House Officers, PGs and young doctors of 17-21 Grades as par with the doctors drawing in the other three provinces.
He also directed the health department to review time scale of the doctors and take steps regarding the promotion of doctors.
