KARACHI (June 13, 2011) : Armed students attacked Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi on Monday, resorting to heavy gunfire and blocking roads in adjoining areas.
According to police, the attack was reportedly prompted by a delay in treatment to one of two injured students admitted at the hospital.
The two students were brought to the hospital following a clash between rival students groups at the Federal Urdu Science University.
The two groups also exchanged fire at the hospital’s emergency ward.
However police reached the spot and took the situation under control.
The hospital administration claims they were held hostage by armed student gangs for about an hour.
