PARLIAMENTARY Secretary for Health Punjab Dr Saeed Elahi has said Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif is determined to utilising all available resources for the provision of better healthcare to the poor.
In this respect, the Chief Minister has issued instruction for a special package of three billion rupees for increasing the salaries of doctors, dental surgeons, pharmacists, nurses, paramedical and other staff of the Health Department as well as extending to them other facilities, he said in a press
statement issued on Sunday after negotiations with different organisations of the Health Department s employees.
Dr. Saeed Elahi said lengthy meetings were held with doctors, dental surgeons, pharmacists, nurses and paramedical staff associations and their proposals and suggestions were also entertained.
He said three-member committee nominated by these organisations and representatives of the government would finalise salaries, promotions, pay protection and other facilities for the Health Department s employees.
Dr. Saeed Elahi said Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif had regularised the services of 4,000 Medical Officers and 2,000 Specialist Doctors who had been working on contract during the last two years while the budget of the Health Department had been increased from Rs. 10 billion to Rs 46 billion.
Moreover, he said revolutionary measures, including free medicines and dialysis facility as well as airconditioners and generators, had been provided to the hospitals for providing modern healthcare to the masses.
