Karachi: Lower staff of Sindh Education stages protest
The police baton-charged and arrested several the lower staff members of the Sindh Education Department when they took out a rally from the Karachi Press Club (KPC) to the Chief Minister’s House on Monday.
The employees from grade-1 to grade-4 also staged a sit-in in front the KPC, demanding the government confirm their appointments.
However, the Sindh education minister was of the view that the staff members were working on contract basis and they had to reapply for permanent status.
The police baton-charged the rally when it was on its way to the Chief Minister’s House and arrested many of the participants. The protesters also pelted stones on policemen in which a station house officer, Asif Munawwar, was injured.
